Multi-branch payroll management

Operating from more than one location does not just multiply payroll — it diversifies it: a different currency, a different working week, a different holiday calendar, a different person in charge locally. This page describes the operational problem, what NXORA genuinely handles, and what remains an organisational decision on your side.

Branches as part of the org structure

A branch in NXORA is defined with a name, code, type, country, city and active state, and every employee is linked to one in their work details. That makes the branch a real dimension of the people record: a column you can show, and a value you can reassign in bulk when a group moves.

  • Multiple branches with country, city and active state
  • Each employee linked to a branch in their work details
  • Bulk reassignment of a branch across a group of employees
  • Departments and job titles kept independent of branch

Different currencies per location

Each employee has a pay currency; currencies and their exchange rates are configured in settings, and aggregate figures can be shown in one display currency for comparison. In practice a team paid locally and a team paid in another currency live inside the same system.

Different working weeks and holidays

The weekly rest day is not the same everywhere. Work schedules define working days, daily hours and overtime multipliers, and each employee is attached to the schedule that matches their location. Public holidays are defined for the company, starting from editable regional presets.

One honest limitation: public holidays are held at company level, not per branch. Companies spanning countries with different holiday calendars handle that today through work schedules and leave records, which is worth planning for during setup.

Separate legal entities

If your locations are separate entities rather than branches, a separate workspace per entity gives full isolation — its own employees, currency, settings and history — and you can switch between workspaces from the same account.

What to know before setting up

A payroll period in NXORA runs at company level for the month; it is not a separate run per branch. The branch is a dimension of the employee record and its organisation, not an independent approval cycle. If your model requires per-location approval, treat that as a current constraint.

Frequently asked questions

Can each branch have its own payroll run?
No. The monthly period runs at company level across its employees, while branch stays an attribute on the employee record. For full separation, use a separate workspace per entity.
Can holiday calendars differ per branch?
Public holidays are currently defined at company level. Differences in the working week between locations are handled through the work schedule attached to each employee.
Are different currencies supported across locations?
Yes. Each employee has a pay currency, exchange rates are configured in settings, and figures can be displayed in a single currency.
